Generating blog traffic

Does anyone have experience driving traffic to a blog site? Are there any good blog link exchanges out there? Anything else I should try?

I am interested in this as well.

I have traditionally been anti-blogging, but recently got sucked into it. Right now I just registered a domain and set up a ego blog.. Basically just use it to talk aout whatever is top of mind. It is not any kind of targeted site or anything.

But I would be interested in seeing what those whom are more experienced do to publicize their blog, because I think there are some additional and more effective means above and beyond what works for a typical web site.
